Hat:
Place the hat pattern on a doubled Fabric # 4 or a single piece of felt. Cut out.
For the felt hat, sew the seam at the back of the hat, then fold the hat so the back seam is centered and sew across the top. Turn right side out and hand sew a pompom at the top.
For the Fabric # 4 hat, separate the two pieces. With the right sides together, sew the back seam on each piece. Turn one of the pieces right side out and matching the back seams, slip one piece inside of the other. Both of the hat pieces should be together with the right sides facing each other. The two back seams should be facing the outside and on top of each other. Sew around the bottom of the hat. Turn the hat right side out thru one of the small top openings. When it is completely turned, it will look like to cones sewn together at the bottoms. Push one cone inside the other. Continue adjusting the pieces until both lie flat and the bottom seam of the hat is even and at the very bottom all the way around. With the center seams in the back, fold the top of the hat in half and sew across the end. Turn right side out and hand sew the pompom in place at the top.

Finishing:
Hand sew any laces, ribbons and/or felt appliqué on the hat, wrists and/or legs. If desired, tack the hat on the head.
