Body:
Remove the pattern and sew the front body together from the top of the neck to the crotch.  Repeat for the back, leaving open where marked.  With right sides together, match and pin the side seams of the back and front body together.  Sew around from bottom of hip on one side up over the shoulder, across the neck, across the other shoulder and back down the other side to the bottom of the hip on the opposite side.  Pin the front and back crotch together.  Ease pin the back to the front across the bottom to fit.  Sew the seam across the bottom.  Clip the curves and angles and turn right side out.  Firmly stuff the body and close the back opening with a ladder stitch.  Set body aside.

Head:
Sew the two front head pieces together down the front seam.  Sew the 2 back head pieces together down the back seam.  With right sides together, match and pin the side seams of the back and front head pieces together.  Sew around from bottom of neck on one side to bottom of neck on other side.  Reinforce the neck edge by hand sewing a running stitch all around the neck to prevent the fabric stretching and stop the seams from pulling loose during stuffing.  Clip the curves and angles and turn right side out.

Place the pompom in the end of the nose and hold it in place with a pin thru the right side.  Firmly stuff the head by inserting a large ball of stuffing into the head. Distribute the stuffing evenly and smoothly all around the inside of the head by making a hole in the middle of the stuffing with your fingers.  Make sure the seam lines of the face all lay flat and on one side of the seam.  Add more small amounts of stuffing into the hole and continue to smooth and distribute it as with the initial ball, until the head is very full and even.  The hole left in the center of the stuffing should be very small; it will be used later for placing the head on the neck when the doll is assembled.
Starting under the nose and following its contours, draw a triangle underneath and up around the outside of the nose to the center of the fore head just below the eye location.  Cut out the eye star, lip heart and cheek circles from the pattern.  Pin these shapes onto the face and move them around until you find the arrangement that pleases you.  Trace around the shapes onto the face with a fabric marking pen.  You may color them in with pens and pencils in the colors of your choice; you may embroider them in with satin stitches in embroidery floss, or you may do a combination of both by coloring them in with the pens and then outlining them in outline stitch with embroidery floss, either in a matching color or black or white.  Sew the ¼" eye buttons in the center of the eye sars.  Pull them in slightly to indent.  Start and stop all hand sewing or embroidery to the head in the stuffing thru the neck opening.  Set the head aside.
